Energy Focus

March 2010 - Refrigeration

Huge strides have been made in refrigeration design in recent years - in reliability, ease of use, ease of maintenance, hygiene, environment-friendliness, and particularly energy efficiency. But with so many different aspects to consider, the choice in refrigeration is now perhaps harder than ever. Full article ...

WEEE

Advice to Final Users

WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The legislation took effect from 1st July 2007 and states that, under certain circumstances, the final user of a piece of electrical or electronic equipment (EEE) can get it collected and recycled at no charge at the end of its life. Scotsman ACM 86

What are the energy saving features of the equipment?
1 Electronic controls (optimising performance according to the environment).

2 Patented Scale Guard System prevents limescale build-up on coolant pipes and 'self flushing' system gets rid of residual water after each ice making cycle, which also makes machine less prone to scale build-up. (Scale build-up can lead to inefficient, energy wasting operation).

3 Warning light when air filter requires cleaning (avoids system overheating & running inefficiently). Air filter is easily accessed, via slot in front of machine, for cleaning.

4 Provision for end user to regularly clean the water pump and associated parts, allowing system to be efficient 100% of time.

5 Warning light when a preventative maintenance period is reached.

How does it save energy?
Improved bin capacities means that more ice can be stored, reducing the running costs of the machine.

Under-counter size means that machines can be placed in serving areas for on-demand ice and so less ice is spoiled.

What is the saving compared to?
36% more capacity than its predecessor, the ACM 85
